The Community
In the early 1900s, shortly after Henry M. Flagler acquired the Jacksonville and Atlantic Railroad, he envisioned and brought to life the magnificent Continental Hotel. This resort gem boasted 250 lavish guest rooms, spacious parlors, and a dining room that offered more than just meals; it featured a 9-hole golf course, a lively dance pavilion, tennis courts, a picturesque fishing pier, and even a well-equipped riding stable. Adjacent to the hotel was a convenient train depot, which drew vacationers to Atlantic Beach for nearly two decades. However, tragedy struck in 1919 when the resort was engulfed in flames, marking the end of an era.
Fast forward to today, and Atlantic Beach has evolved into a haven for luxury-seeking visitors. The One Ocean Resort, complete with an indulgent spa and Azurea Restaurant offering fine dining with breathtaking oceanfront views, stands as a testament to this transformation. For a trendier stay, the boutique Hotel Palms, originally established in 1947 as a motor court inn, now shines as a design and architecture-focused retreat just three blocks from the ocean. Another boutique gem, the Salt Air Inn & Suites, established in 1946, has been recently refurbished to exude authentic Florida beach vibes, offering modern amenities within a short stroll of the beach.
Eat + Drink
The vibrant heart of Atlantic Beach resides in the Beaches Town Center, a bustling hub for dining, shopping, and nightlife.
